Underwater Hyperspectral Imager (UHI)

Ecotone offers two lines of underwater hyperspectral imagers: UHI Ocean Vision and Scientific UHI Ocean Vision.

UHI Ocean vision is suitable for shallow water seafloor mapping.

Scientific UHI is suitable for research and special cases requiring mapping at greater depths, and high spectral resolution, e.g. detailed habitat monitoring and ecotoxicological research.

General operational requirements

The UHI is typically installed on ROV, AUV or USV – with surface and subsurface positioning. The UHI is a line-camera scanning up to 200 Hz and building up an image by line by line. External lamp sources are used, we recommend SpectraLux lights designed for use with UHI.

Normally our setup is consisting of three parts;

– UHI subsea unit with cable for power and communication to the surface vessel.

– A set of lights that has to be adjusted and fixed relative to the UHI camera

– A top side PC with our Immersion software for controlling the UHI and data collection.

The data is collected in a h5 format (standard ENVI format or preferred SW) for post processing and presentation.
