Calcareous algae are a widely distributed and ecologically important organism group. Scientist from Norwegian University of Science and Technology have now characterized the optical signatures of a set of species. The work is carried out using underwater hyperspectral imagery. The results were recently published in the peer reviewed journal Applied Optics.
