With Ecotone technology, automated environmental surveys can be done faster, cheaper and more precise. With the huge amounts of subsea pipelines and production systems present, this represents a tremendous potential for the Oil & Gas industries.

Pipeline inspection
Ecotone’s Underwater Hyperspectral Imaging (UHI) unit significantly improves the speed and quality of subsea pipeline inspection. Since the data are automatically recorded and analyzed, classification results are objective and not operator-dependent.

Subsea infrastructure
The UHI can be used to inspect subsea infrastructure and automatically detect changes in their surface; e.g. missing coatings or rust. The UHI is also a good match with Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) for inspection work.

Mapping of drill cuttings
Subsea drill cuttings look just like natural sediments, but their spectral fingerprints differ. This allows the UHI to detect and distinguish them automatically. UHI data can then be used to map the distribution of drill cuttings at the drill site, as well as the transition back to natural sediments.
